Happy Holidays. New chassis's are arriving as I write this news article. As I un-box them, I can not help but remember the first time I ever laid eye's on a birel, way back when, the amount of R&D that goes into a birel is incredible and that effort shows as you gaze on them.   

Things are revving-up as we get ready for the Florida Winter Tour. Dean Mack, Race Team Manager, informs me that we are near capacity in the MKP tent, if you are planning on going and would like to be under the MKP tent contact him ASAP.

Trip to Italy complete. The new Birel's for 2007 are fast out of the box. While in Italy six time World Champion Mike Wilson and I had a very good conversation about the new product line, Mike feels this may well be the best chassis design yet. The factory was hoping, karts being shipped all over the world. We got a glimpse of things to come as well as a lesson from Oscar Sala himself. 

Special thanks to the hardest working girls in Motorsports, IRL's Sara Fisher, and CART's Katherin Legg for all the great driving at the 200 mile endurance race at NCMP. They are without a doubt "FAST".

John “the rock” Dixon took home a chuck of the Rock Island Grand Prix for team MKP. Fantastic effort from one of the nicest Engine Builders/Racers in the country. For information on 2J’s engineering racing engines contact the shop and we will put you in contact with John.

A very sad event took place this month, the passing of my friend and karting icon Harry Alkire. Please remember Harry in your thoughts and prayers.

The Indy Karting Series is now over, MKP is extremely pleased with the series. IKS has brought fun back to the Midwest Street Racing Circuits. Plan to visit them next season. 

Rock Island Grand Prix, Linton Grand Prix and the BIG SHOW at Mooresville will keep us busy this September.

Italy goes back to work this month, supply chain will be replenished, and all is well in the world again. Birel will be bringing out a few new big tube models this coming year, the B25, AM29 and R30 models will not see a change. MKP has the new .5 and 1mm pills for the above mentioned models. This pill is just like the ones you see on the M31 and larger tubed chassis’s. Call the shop for more details.

Bill Mclaughlin Jr. has been testing new setups for the M31 R30 and AM29, we are really making progress on tracks where we struggled early on. This information will be shared in the Team Logon Area of the web site shortly.

Our annual trip to the Birel Factory in Italy is fast approaching. This is our opportunity to review and test the new material before we get our hand on it. All the models below the R30 will not change for next year. World Champion Mike Wilson is now in charge of the American Market for Birel. Mike and I spoke at the Stars event in Charlotte NC last month, he is the single most important asset we have now. His knowledge on chassis development is second to none. July is our busy month for the race team, We have a Stars race at Lowes Motor Speedway in NC, off to South Bend IN for the WKA Manufactures Cup the following week, then the Indy Karting Series will take us through the last week in July.

Birel SpA has announced that Six Time World Karting Champion Mike Wilson will join our family and will be in attendance at the Stars event at Lowes. Mr. Wilson brings us to a new level in karting, please join us in welcoming Mike to the family. Stop by our garages and say hello to this legend. FYI the only American to win a world championships, Lake Speed will also be at the Stars race, and competing in the TaG class.

Karts sales are still up, it has been a huge year for MKP, we are adding qualified people to our staff to assist our customers. Our goal as a company is to give customers 100% support, if it is from how do I install brake pads to how can I improve my lap times, just ask, we want to help.

Did anyone notice how many drivers in the Indy 500 this year came from karting? Its great to see that the sport we love so much has that kind of migration path.

Bill Mclaughlin Jr. will run the remainder of the Stars and WKA events for MKP on his Birel M31, Haddock prepared Parilla Swift, Bridgestone, Aim, Horstman entry. This will allow the team to test at twice the rate we are today. Conor Daly is our current Team Birel America star.

The Next race school is in July, class size is very limited, please call or stop by and speak with Dean or Tony. This class is designed for the beginner or intermediate driver and crew. It’s the best money you can spend.

MKP Welcomes New Team Driver: Conor Daly son of race car legend Derek Daly has joined Motorama Kart Parts as a team driver for the 2006 season. Conor will pilot his M31 on JICA duty and his AM29 on all Yamaha starts in the WKA Manufactures Cup and Stars Events. “The feed back we receive from this young man is just incredible, you can tell he has had a great teacher and the combined experience will yield fantastic results for our team and customer base”.

The weather has been crazy, one day you can build a snowman the next we are testing clutches in the parking lot. Sales are just as crazy. We will have a few of the new 06 models in stock and we expect a shipment this month. We have just completed the last phase of the shop expansion. If your in the area stop in and have a look. This expansion will keep MKP in the forefront of karting for years to come.
